This
website is NOT that of
SolarUkrenewables.com.
It
is a site commissioned by me, Mr Warner as a member of the public, who entered into a contract to add to an existing solar system installed
in the summer of 2022.
I
am in my 83rd year, a company director of over 40 years standing.
One of those companies was a The Press Association company appointed in 1990
providing editorial, on a daily basis to every
national and regional newspaper in the land as well as overseas. I believe
therefore I am experienced in many matters with considerable business acumen.
In
mid-July my wife took a call from a southern solar company saying that our domestic
solar system should have been maintained every year since it was installed in
May 2022. They informed us that this installation Company had gone out of
business and that they would do it now, evaluate the system and clean the
panels too. On Friday the 19th of July we had a visit from Mr Wayne
Sparrow from that Company. He had been the representative of the original
company that had sold us the original system back in 2022 – so all seemed real.
I asked him if it would be a good idea to add some more solar panels. His
expert advice was that it would be far better to add a couple of additional batteries
to the system. Although these had gone up significantly in price over the past
a two and bit years he could supply them at the original cost. So we agreed to purchase a further two batteries. He arranged
that they would be put in on the following Tuesday, a couple of working days time.
On
the Tuesday an engineer arrived in the morning [Tuesday 23rd July].
As it was relatively early I asked if he had come up from
Essex and he said no he had come across from the west coast and I left him to
it. Checking an hour or so later he said he was having a bit of trouble
connecting the batteries but it would be OK. He very
shortly drove away without saying anything – I assumed he was going for his
lunch – but he never came back.
I
never heard a peep from them for the rest of that week, so I sent the
following email on the weekend:

Hi
Wayne
The
two batteries we ordered were delivered last Tuesday. The operator tried to
install them but could not get them to work and then
disappeared without saying anything. The same thing happened originally
last time and it took you to come and make them work.
Can
you do the same or arrange for someone else to do it correctly please?
A
few questions:
· If
we change to Economy 7 tariff, how do we ensure the batteries only draw
electricity from the grid at night?
· Do
we need a smart meter with Eon Economy 7
· If
we use a Type 2 Portable EV Charger 6A - 13A Variable, 3kW, 12hr Start
Delay, U – Third Rock Energy how can we ensure it only draws power
from the batteries

Dear sirs
As
the two batteries were delivered several weeks ago now and your installation
engineer failed to make them work and since then you have done nothing to
correct this situation, I wish to cancel the order as is my legal right.
Please
return the deposit without delay.
After
which you can make an appointment to collect the batteries.
Please
confirm when the deposit has been returned.
Sincerely
Anthony

At
the time of Wayne Sparrow’s visit on Friday the 19th of July he gave
me his business card which has this on the front and his personal details on
the reverse:
I went onto Companies House and found the MD of this company and his address and sent this letter by recorded delivery

Dear
Mr Lee
CONTRACT
NUMBER 031A dated 19 July 2024
We entered into this contract to add a further two batteries
(2x 3.5 Growatt) to the previous system your Company
installed several years ago. This purchase was made with your representative
Wayne Sparrow on Friday 19th July. The agreed date of installation was the
following Tuesday morning 23rd July.
Your
engineer turned up and began the installation. On enquiring how it was going he
stated that he was having a little trouble connecting the new batteries up. I
left him alone to continue the work.
Several
hours later he drove away without any further discussion with me. On inspection
the new batteries were not connected.
I did
not hear anything from your Company for the rest of that week and so emailed
your office mail contact address marked for the attention of Wayne Sparrow on
Sunday July 28.
Not hearing
anything I sent another mail asking for a response on July 30th.
Having
still heard nothing I sent a further email on August 5th stating that as I had
heard nothing, I wished to cancel the contract and have my deposit returned.
After which you could
collect
the two batteries. I then as a matter of courtesy telephoned Wayne to express
my disquiet.
I then
had a call from ‘Harry’ saying there was a software issue with the battery
manufacturers, Growatt.
He
said they could solve it by putting in a 6.5 battery instead at no extra cost.
I stated that as I was losing 0.5Kw I should have thought it should be cheaper.
He said he would find out - but no reply. On looking at the web on the Growatt site the 6.5 single battery was £1000 cheaper than
the2x3.5s.
As I
heard nothing for days I chased Wayne Sparrow on the telephone. He said he
would sort it.
I then
got a call from Harry saying Growatt had come back
saying the issue had been solved and that two new batteries would be fitted. A
revised installation date was agreed on Friday 23rd August at 12.00.
Nobody
arrived and now on Tuesday 27th I still have heard nothing.
I can
truly say that I do not think I have come across such unprofessionalism in a
Company before.
This
time I wish to cancel the contract. Please immediately return the deposit and
then arrange for the collection of the batteries.
Sincerely.
Anthony

As a week later I had received no response to this letter I telephoned the office number on Wayne Sparrow’s business card.
‘Harry’ said they had received no letter. In that conversation I discovered that the Company in question was not Solar UK but Solar Uk Renewables Ltd.
I went onto Companies House and found out only several months earlier that that Company had been incorporated on 17th November 2023 with a share capital of £1 and one director:
MATTHEW
GRAHAM HOLNESS
at 124-128
CITY ROAD LONDON EC1V 2NX
As a consequence of that conversation, I immediately followed up with

Further
to our telephone conversation of this morning.
Attached
please find the letter I believed I sent to your managing Director, readdressed
to Mr Holness.
It
was sent on Friday 23 August to the company in Essex Solar UK Ltd as this was
the name on the business card given to me by Wayne Sparrow at the time of the
order and was led to believe you were an Essex company.
Whatever
the situation, I still intend to cancel the contract. At no stage did anyone
from your Company indicate I was not ordering this installation from the
previous Company represented by Mr Sparrow.

Since 2nd September I have had three telephone conversations with “Harry” [He refuses to give me his surname].
Then first he rang me and said they were arranging to reimburse my deposit and would arrange for the collection of the useless batteries. That was on 11th September at 16.8.
The other two times [I have the dates and times] I rang him to ask where was the reimbursement. He stated that it would take a few more days ….that was seven days ago… NOTHING
I have subsequently spoken with Joseph at Floenergy, the original contractors, who said they have not in any way gone out of business and these guys must be a SCAM.
I leave it to you to make up your own mind.
The Company is SolarUkrenewables Ltd
